Canada

Yves R. Hamel et Associés Inc., has, during the last thirty years, been able to demonstrate it's capabilities as a world class provider of point-to-point, broadcast, mobile and telecommunications services to it's national and international clients.

Here are some images of national projects

Montreal - Canada

Short description of the project: We have done a study in 3rd generation (3G) systems for a Wireless Canadian Operator in Canada.

Radio communications for the City of Candiac Fire Department

Our client mandated us to prepare the technical specifications for new telecommunication equipment for the City of Candiac Fire Department. The new system included the following components:

The new equipment had to interconnect with the existing dispatch system.

Our participation in the project included:

Equipment room

Antenna on one of the vehicles

In-car repeater

End-user equipment

Overall Development Plan For the City of Terrebonne Telecommunications services

Yves R. Hamel et associés was asked to participate in the elaboration of a general development plan for the telecommunications services (including the police, the Fire department and public works department) for the City of Terrebonne The overall plan was intended to integrate, in several steps, the telecommunication services of the neighbouring municipalities: Bois-des-Filion, Ste-Anne-des-Plaines, Mascouche, La Plaine, Lachenaie.

Our participation in the project included the following tasks:

Emergency telecommunications system for the Laval metro extension

As part of the extension of No 2 metro line to Laval, our client has entrusted us with the task of preparing a call for tenders and doing the follow-up concerning the supplying, installation and commissioning of an emergency telecommunications system in the new metro tunnel during the construction period.

The following tasks were included in the mandate:

Training

YRH has developed and presented a number of custom-designed training courses, for a variety of clients, covering a wide array of subjects pertaining to the telecommunications industry. Among others:

Safety Code 6 :

General objective: To be aware of and understand the limits of human exposure to radiofrequency electromagnetic fields, as specified by the Safety Code 6, published by Health Canada. To be able to apply safety procedures designed to protect the general public and well as workers at a transmission site. To be able to crate a RF safety program adapted to a specific site and to the needs of workers.

Target audience: Engineers, managers and workers employed at sites using radio-frequencies (broadcast, cellular/PCS, satellite, mobile radio for public services or military applications). Workers exposed to radiofrequency electromagnetic fields (Workers exposed to RF). Professionals working in the area of occupational health and safety. Government employees involved in spectrum management and application of Code 6 recommendations.

Prerequisite: General knowledge of radiofrequencies and their applications.

Benchmarking

Yves R. Hamel et Associés has benchmarked the quality of cellular networks in the major Canadian cities as requested by one of the cellular network operators wishing to measure the performance evolution of his network against his competition.

To this end we have developed tools and procedures required for a comprehensive benchmarking study, including:

Safety Code 6 theoretical evaluation and measurements

Yves R. Hamel et Associés was mandated by many clients (cellular network operators, telecommunication sites managers, radio and TV broadcasters, installers, etc.) to perform Code 6 compliance evaluations, both theoretical and site-surveys, for all types telecommunication sites, including cellular sites, mobile base-stations and broadcast sites.

Code 6 compliance measurements are performed using equipment specifically designed for the evaluation of electromagnetic field intensity and for the evaluation of induced body currents. A software tool for theoretical modelling of RF field levels with respect to Code 6 standards, developed by our experts, is used to supplement the on-site measurement data.

YRH has also provided Code 6 safety training for various participants.

Induced body current meter

RF protection suit

Indoors measurements

On-site measurements

Technical briefs

We have prepared technical briefs for many radio an television broadcaster, as required for the awarding and modification of operating licences for FM and TV stations.

These briefs contained, among others, the following elements:

Microwave link design and path surveys

Yves R. Hamel et Associés has performed, for various cellular network operators, microwave link design and path surveys for microwave transmission system for backbone and access network.

Our role included:

Microwave antennas for the switch

Cellular site microwave antennas
